Explore the standout features of the RS7 V2 Aluminum Hall Effect Keyboard, including build quality, switch technology, and what to consider before buying.
Quick answer
The RS7 V2 Aluminum Hall Effect Keyboard stands out for its solid aluminum frame and responsive Hall Effect switches, making it a durable option for gamers who value build quality and customizable actuation.
Why the aluminum body matters
An aluminum chassis adds significant weight and rigidity compared to plastic keyboards. This reduces flex during intense gaming sessions and gives the keyboard a premium, stable feel on your desk. However, it also means the RS7 V2 is less portable than lighter, plastic alternatives.
Hall Effect switch advantages
Hall Effect switches use magnets to detect key presses, which eliminates physical contact and reduces wear over time. This can lead to a longer switch lifespan and consistent performance. The RS7 V2's Hall Effect switches also allow for adjustable actuation points, letting you set how far you need to press a key before it registers.
Trade-offs to consider
Hall Effect keyboards often cost more than traditional mechanical ones, and the RS7 V2 is no exception. Additionally, the switch feel may differ from what you're used to with standard mechanical switches. If you prefer a distinct tactile bump or clicky sound, Hall Effect switches provide a smoother, linear feel by default.
Decision rules for choosing the RS7 V2
- Build quality priority: If you want a keyboard that feels solid and doesn't flex under pressure, the aluminum frame of the RS7 V2 is a strong reason to choose it over plastic models.
- Adjustable actuation need: If you want to fine-tune how sensitive your keys are for different games, the Hall Effect switches let you adjust the actuation point without swapping hardware.
- Budget and switch preference: If you are on a tighter budget or prefer a tactile or clicky mechanical switch, consider whether the RS7 V2's price and linear feel match your priorities. Test a linear switch if possible to confirm you're comfortable with the feel before committing.
